Matatu of Nairobi

One of Nairobi’s best forms of self expression. I was only able to see a handful of them, but they are a central cultural element of the city. Matatu owners compete to have the most creative decked out buses, as this is a huge way to market their buses for customers. On the inside, some of these matatus are essentially a club, with extremely advanced sound systems, lighting, screens, and some even have VIP sections. It’s not a ride, it’s an experience.
